Friends of Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre
The Friends of Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre assist the Centre in environmental, educational, and landcare issues pertinent to the regeneration and conservation of the Bibra and North Lake Reserves of the Beeliar Regional Park. They are keen birdwatchers and have monitored waterbirds on a quarterly basis since 1996. Between monitoring events they hold regular birdwatching outings on Saturday mornings. They meet at the Centre on the 1st Saturday of the month at 10.00am. All are welcome. For further information please contact the President, Logan Howlett on 9337 6501.
Wetlands Conservation Society
The Wetlands Conservation Society was formed in 1985 to campaign for the protection of wetlands throughout the State. It has been based at the Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre since 1993. The WCS is involved in a wide range of activities aimed at conserving Western Australian wetlands. These include education, submissions, wetland revegetation and excursions to wetlands. They meet at the Centre on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 8pm. For further information please contact the President, Phillip Jennings, on 9360 2274.
1st Bibra Lake Scout Group
The 1st Bibra Lake Scout Group is a community-based organisation to help develop the spiritual, mental, physical and emotional development of our youth aged between six and twenty-six. The group is run entirely by volunteers in a variety of roles including leaders, parent helpers and various committee members. The group currently has 14 adult leaders and 66 youth members. Scouting is truly a family affair with 6 of the adult leaders being husbands and wives, and another couple are a leader/helper combination. The Parent Committee, which meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month, runs the group. For further information please phone 1800 SCOUTS.
